Financial Aid & Scholarships
Financial Aid Awards are made to incoming students on the
basis of demonstrated need. Due to the limited availability
of funds, Holy Cross may not be able to meet the demonstrated
need of every student applying for financial aid.
Scholarships
Each Year Holy Cross High School awards three fully funded
scholarships (established to honor The Brothers of Holy Cross,
the 25th Anniversary of the School and the Board of Directors)
and one partial scholarship- $2,500 (the Faculty Memorial
Scholarship, named in honor of deceased faculty members of
Holy Cross High School.) In addition, Holy Cross awards a
scholarship ($2,500) to the two students who earn the highest
score on the Entrance Exam.
These scholarships will be renewed yearly based on continued
financial need and maintenance of at least a 90 average.
Financial Aid Grants
The Brothers of Holy Cross, Eastern Province, and Holy Cross
High School award financial aid grants based strictly on need.
Non-Holy Cross Sponsored Aid
There are a number of scholarships sponsored by various local,
civic and school organizations that are available to eighth
graders. You are urged to check with your school guidance
counselor for information about the available scholarships.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How can I Find Out More Information about Financial Aid?
On the day of the entrance exam, 8th graders will be given
a packet containing a booklet entitled, Family Guide
to Financial Aid from the School and Student Service
for Financial Aid (SSS). Holy Cross utilizes the SSS,
a service of the National Association of Independent Schools
(NAIS), to assist in managing the financial aid process.
Please read the Family Guide carefully. Feel free
to visit the SSS website at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss/
to find out more information.
- How do I Obtain an Application for Financial Aid Consideration?
Students will receive the Parents' Financial Statement
(PFS), the application form for financial aid consideration,
in their packet on the day of the entrance exam. You also have the option to complete the PFS
online at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss/.
- What is the Deadline for Application for Tuition Assistance?
For Incoming Freshmen: All completed PFS applications
should be mailed to School and Student Services (SSS) for
Financial Aid in Princeton, New Jersey no later than December
15, 2007. This will allow the SSS 2-3 weeks to process the
application and forward the information to our office. It
is imperative that you file your application by the appropriate
deadline- please do not wait until
the acceptance letters have been mailed to start the financial
aid process.
For All Other Students: All completed PFS applications
should be mailed to SSS for Financial Aid in Princeton,
New Jersey no later than March 7, 2008.
*For families with an incoming freshman as well as a returning
upper class student, only one
application needs to be completed. You must,
however, adhere to the December deadline.
- Is There A Guarantee That I Will Automatically Be
Granted Aid By Filing an Application?
No. The limited amount of funds makes it impossible
to meet all requests. Grants are made on a need basis;
some families will have a greater need than others.
- When Will I Know If I Receive Financial Aid?
Incoming freshmen applicants should expect to receive a letter regarding financial aid by the middle of February 2008. This will allow a reasonable amount of time to make a decision about enrollment and to assist you with your financial planning. All other students should expect to receive a letter regarding financial aid by late spring.
- Will My Application for Financial Aid Affect
My Application for Admission?
No. Applications for financial aid and applications
for admission are reviewed separately.
- Will My Financial Aid Be Automatically Renewed
Every Year?
No. Families must reapply for financial aid
every year due to the fact that family and financial
circumstances change from year to year.
