Establishing a Scholarship at Holy Cross High School
Holy Cross High School appreciates gifts at any time that support annual
giving at the school. Some have considered making a donation in the
form of a scholarship. When you establish a scholarship, you directly
assist those students who demonstrate academic promise and are in need
of financial aid. You help talented students realize their hopes of
an education framed in the Holy Cross tradition of excellence. In conjunction
with the President, you will be able to establish criteria for the scholarship
award. There are several ways of establishing a scholarship at Holy
Cross High School. The following guidelines should be of assistance
when considering this possibility.
Memorial Contribution to the Scholarship Fund
Any contribution of $5,000.00 or more will be considered as a lasting
memorial to a loved one. The names of those remembered by contributions
of $5,000.00 or more will be recognized on the Endowment and Scholarship
Plaque that will be prominently displayed in the school. If a pledge
has been made, the honored person's name will be added to the plaque
once the minimum of $5,000 has been reached. *
Named Scholarship
A "gateway gift" of $25,000.00 or more will establish a named scholarship.
The principal will be invested and the interest earned, (unless other
arrangements are made) will be awarded in the name of the person for
whom the scholarship is established. A Named Scholarship is a standing
scholarship. That is, contributions to named scholarships can be made
at any time. The principal of such scholarships will remain untouched
in perpetuity. Gifts at this level will be given permanent recognition
on the Endowment and Scholarship Plaque that will be prominently displayed
in the school. If a pledge has been made, the scholarship name will
be added to the plaque once the minimum of $25,000 has been reached.

One-time Named Scholarships
Scholarships in the form of tuition reduction grants may be made at
any time. In this case, a donor forwards to Holy Cross a predetermined
amount of money to be awarded to a student at an appropriate time, usually
at the Spring Honors Assembly. This award is usually applicable for
the following school year's tuition. In some cases, a predetermined
amount of money is awarded by the donor on a yearly basis.
Other Contributions
Contributions to the Endowment & Scholarship Fund may be made in
Honor of a loved one. These honorary listings will remain active as
long as there are contributions made in the name of the individual.
* Payments must be received annually on pledges made
toward a scholarship or perpetual memorial. If two or more years lapse
without a pledge payment, the funds will be combined with the existing
Scholarship and Endowment funds.
