Holy Cross High School Begins Search for New President: An Update from the Search Committee
posted: February 23, 2018The Search Committee for Holy Cross High School's next President held its first formal meeting on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Edmund Malaspina, Jr. '85 & P '14, '15 & '19, Search Committee Chair and Board Vice-Chair for Holy Cross High School, led the nine person group comprised of Board Members, faculty, alumni, current and past parents, and friends, through the plans for the first phase of the search.
In addition to Mr. Malaspina, other committee members include:
- Mary Brigham '79 & P'10 & '12, Board Member, Holy Cross High School; Attorney-at-Law
- Patrick Clifford, Board Member, Holy Cross High School; Former Principal of Notre Dame West Haven; Director of Career Services at Albertus Magnus College

The committee will enlist the services of an educational consulting firm to facilitate the search. The school has reached out to two reputable firms, known for their success with private and independent schools. The committee will review bids and proposals from each firm with the goal of engaging one of them by March 2018. Once engaged, the firm will meet with the existing faculty and the current Holy Cross President, prior to reviewing suitable candidates.
The search for Holy Cross's new President will take approximately a year and a half. The anticipated starting date for the next President will be in July of 2019.
Amadeo Rinaldi, Holy Cross's current interim President, will leave his position in June 2018. There will be a gap between his departure and the starting date of the next President. The Brothers of Holy Cross and the Board of Directors are looking for a solution independent of this search.
As the process continues, updates will be shared with our Crusader community. This presidential search represents an exciting chapter in the future of Holy Cross High School. As the search moves forward, we will continue to share information with our Holy Cross family - administration, faculty, staff, donors, students, families, alumni and friends.
