This is a full year course intended to familiarize the student with the course of Western history. It will highlight the major trends and events of the past 4000-5000 years. Particular emphasis will be placed on those events and ideas that have led directly to the modern world. While time will be spent on early civilizations and periods, greater emphasis will be placed on the period from 1715 until the present.

This course expects that students have mastered basic note taking and writing skills. There will be intensive study of the regions of Africa, Middle East, Latin America, Japan and China. The cultures of these regions will be stressed along with the study of their history, geography and economy.

United States History Honors is an intensive study of the course of American History. It traces the development and progress of the American nation and the American people. Emphasis is placed upon the thoughts, ideals and events which have brought America into the 20th century and have created the world we live in today. Much of the work will include extensive writing, research and presentation of student work and ideas.

A consideration of United States History from the discovery of America to the present. Emphasis will be placed on the time period beginning in 1865 and extending until the present.

This Advanced Placement course provides an intensive analysis of U.S. History from the Age of Exploration to the present. Extensive reading and writing will be involved, as well as the process of historical analysis. The syllabus of the College Board AP program will be followed, preparing the students for the AP Exam in May. Limited enrollment.

This course will be an introduction to the discipline of Political Science. Topics such as ancient and modern political theories and the role of citizens in the democratic process will be discussed. In addition, policy making will be examined, as well as public administration and international politics.

AP Psychology is an intensive course designed to introduce students to the scientific study of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and animals. The syllabus of the College Board AP Psychology program will be followed, in preparation for the AP exam in May.

This course examines both the healthy and the abnormal personality. Emphasis is placed on the theories of Freud, Skinner and Maslow. Topics include child development, adolescence, peer relations, defensive behavior and abnormalities.
