Congratulations to Brendan Lynch '18 who will participate in Division III Swimming this fall at University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford where he will major in Business.
Brendan started swimming when he was nine years old at the Watertown Park and Recreation. At the time, he was both an active swimmer and basketball player. Upon arrival at Holy Cross, his coach, Mary Racevicius, immediately saw his potential as a swimmer.
"She really focused on me and helped me out a lot," said Brendan. "As time went on, I made some of my best (swim) times, particularly in the last two years."
Being part of the Boys' Swimming and Diving Team is a Lynch family tradition. His brothers, Connor '13, Devin '15 and Tim '16 swam for Holy Cross. Brendan, however, saw four NVL Championships with his team during his time as a student Crusader. "That first win was a memorable one," said Brendan. "It feels great to be a part of this team. All of the hard work that we put in paid off."
The University of Saint Joseph also holds a special place with the Lynch family. Brendan's mother (and Holy Cross faculty members) Lyz Lynch is an alumna of the school. "We knew they were going co-ed this coming fall," said Brendan. "The swim coach reached out to me. When I visited the campus, it felt like home. I am really looking forward to being a part of their team."
Even though Brendan graduates from Holy Cross in a few weeks, the school will remain a huge part of his life. "Holy Cross gave memories and friends that will last a lifetime and an education that will help me in the future."
