Holy Cross Raises $28,000 through Give Local Fundraising Campaign

Thanks to the generosity of alumni, parents, friends, faculty and students, almost $14,000 was raised in the 36 hour Give Local – Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills campaign. These dollars will be matched by an anonymous donor, giving Holy Cross High School $28,000 in total. The Connecticut Community Foundation may also stretch this amount further with additional bonus funds. In summary, this was a wonderful achievement for the Holy Cross community.

Approximately 250 organizations participated in the Give Local campaign. Holy Cross High School finished in 14th place for total gifts received.

"I was very excited and proud of all the people who took the time to donate," said President, Peg Leger. "This really sent the message that they do care about Holy Cross. Board of Directors, graduates, parents, friends and faculty really made a difference over the past few days."

"We can't thank our Crusader family enough," said Cary Fappiano '85, Vice President for Advancement. "This overwhelming response exceeded our expectations. Thanks to this generosity, we will have the funds to put back into the school community. This money will support the school's greatest needs which includes our year-round service-oriented initiatives."

"I have worked here for over ten years," said Donna Marino, Director of the Annual Fund. "Our donors have always been generous, but I was really blown away by how they supported us with this campaign. We were especially proud that 10% of our donors were new, including young alumni and students. My husband, Joe '76 teaches here and both of my children, Christopher 07 and Alisa '09, attended here. We couldn't be any prouder to be a Crusader family."
