New School Schedule

Starting in the 2019-2020 school year, Holy Cross High School will operate on a new schedule with changes in the arrival and dismissal times, sequencing of class blocks, and implementation of the Community Period. Please note that students will follow the current daily schedule for the remaining of the 2018-2019 school year. The new daily schedule for the upcoming school year will be:

*There may be alternate variations of this schedule based on special events, inclement weather and other extenuating circumstances.

Times. For this coming fall, our school day will begin promptly with first period classes at 7:30am. Students will be expected to arrive no later than 7:25am and be fully prepared for their academic classes. Any student to be absent must be called out by a parent or guardian no later than 7:15am. The school day will conclude at 1:45pm. All busing routes and schedules will remain unchanged and no sports or athletics will be adversely impacted.

Sequencing. The school day blocks will continue as A and B days, but rotate through an 8 day cycle. In so doing, the time in which a class is held will move over the course of several days. For example, Blocks 1,2,3, and 4 on an A day will be Blocks 2,3,4, and 1 on the next A day, followed by Blocks 3,4,1, and 2 and then Blocks 4,1,2,3. The same sequence occurs for B days. Thus, over an 8 day period, all classes have rotated through the day.

Community Period. The centerpiece of this new schedule will be a Community Period Block which will provide ample opportunities each day for students to practice effective time management while getting the chance to participate in activities and engage with faculty and staff. During this time, we will:

  • Allow for more one-on-one time between students and faculty members during scheduled office hours
  • Provide opportunities for collaborative learning and working between faculty to faculty, faculty to student and student to student
  • Meet as a full school community through First Friday masses, school assemblies and other school events
  • Give our students the chance to participate in more student clubs and extracurricular activities which will meet at this time
