“I was able to hone my skills when I came to Holy Cross. I have learned a lot about two point perspectives, drawing proportionally and composition. As long as I am doing art, I am happy.”

The Visual Arts Department empowers students to open their eyes to things they have never seen or thought before. Students build skills with a strong foundation in realism. In advanced courses, they expand on that with self-expressive and abstract work.  Select art classes include: Painting, Drawing & Design, Advanced Drawing, Independent Art and AP Studio Art. Students are encouraged to create pieces that are original, unusual, unpredictable, extraordinary and unique.

Arts on Oronoke

Each year, students, faculty and alumni submit work for the Arts of Oronoke art show. This exhibition, which opens in May, showcases drawings, paintings, sculpture and other creative items brought to life by our Crusader community. If you are an alumnus/a and would like to submit something for Arts on Oronoke, please contact Rosanne Shea, Arts Department Chair.
