Our students donate countless hours of service to members of local and extended communities. Service projects take place throughout the year, even when school isn't in session. Many take place concurrently with others.

However, there is one major difference that separates Holy Cross High School from many other schools. Our students donate their time because they want to do it; not because they have to do it.

Several on-campus groups including National Honor Society, Peer Ministry, Student Council, Helping Hands, Athletic Council, Crusade for a Cure and Student Activities have raised money and awareness for a variety of causes.

The Crusaders have donated toys, clothing, food and time to various organizations in the Greater Waterbury area including Apple Rehab, Children's Community School, St. Vincent DePaul, Middlebury Food Pantry and Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Catholic Academy of Waterbury, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Town Plot Park, Chase Park House and Holy Land.

In honor of Father Francis E. Grogan, C.S.C.

Father Francis E. Grogan was much more than just a faculty member at Holy Cross High School. During his seven-year tenure from 1969 to 1976, he left an indelible mark on the school, its students, and the community at large. Known for his unwavering dedication to his priestly duties, Father Grogan was a guiding light for many who sought his spiritual guidance. Beyond his role as a priest, he was also a remarkable teacher, captivating students with his knowledge and passion.

Tragically, Father Grogan's life was cut short during the devastating events of September 11th, 2001. However, his impact and legacy continue to live on, inspiring generations of students and faculty alike. To honor his memory, school community service initiatives that embody the same kindness and compassion that defined Father Grogan's life will be carried out in his memory. Through these initiatives, his legacy is perpetuated as students and staff strive to give back to others, just as he did throughout his life.
