Catherine Xeller Named Assistant Principal

June 21st, 2022

Effective July 1, 2022, Catherine Xeller will assume duties as Holy Cross High School’s Assistant Principal. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Xeller worked in the Guidance Office for thirteen years. She was the Director of Guidance for the last seven years.

A native of Branford, CT, Ms. Xeller landed a job at Holy Cross after her graduation from Southern CT State University (B.A., Psychology & M.S., School Counseling). “My goal was to work at a place that I loved,” she said. “I found a home here at Holy Cross.”

As Assistant Principal, Ms. Xeller will oversee the students’ academic progress and behavior. She will also work with students on opportunities to take college level courses, such as Advanced Placement Courses, Early College Experience at University of Connecticut and Holy Cross High School Academy at Post University.

“The selection of Kate Xeller is probably the easiest decision I have been faced with in my Holy Cross tenure,” said Mr. Tommy Pompei, Principal. “She is a tireless, relentless worker who is as invested in our students as any educator I have ever been around. She is compassionate, fair, innovative, and devoted to our Holy Cross students, faculty, and families. This is not her job; this is truly her calling. Holy Cross High School became an even better school community when she was named to our administration. I am honored and blessed to have Kate as my Assistant Principal.”

“As any professional, you look to move up in the ranks,” she said. “Having a job at any capacity at Holy Cross is what I have longed for. I’m looking forward to this new role and to see the school I love in a new light.”
