Nora J. Mason Named as Director of Advancement

August 8th, 2022

Holy Cross High School is pleased to announce that Nora J. Mason P’16,’19 & ‘22 has officially joined the Crusader family as the Director of Advancement. She will provide leadership for strategic fundraising and relationship building with all constituents including the board, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and foundations

"I am thrilled that Nora will be joining our team as the Director of Advancement,” said Dr. Thomas C. Pellegrino, President. “She brings a wealth of professional experience in non-profit fundraising and has a keen awareness of the strength of our Mission, having sent her three sons, Zachary ‘16, Sam ‘19 and Ben ‘22 to Holy Cross.  She is a consummate professional, a thoughtful strategist, and a tireless advocate for our school and her students.  I am looking forward to working with Nora and supporting her work as we envision a world of new possibilities for this great school"

“I am extremely humbled and excited to join the Holy Cross High School family in this capacity,” said Mrs. Mason. “My family is very fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience Holy Cross. It was the best decision for my husband Michael ’82 and my sons. They all did well academically, athletically and socially. Zachary and Sam attended Providence College after both being awarded full ROTC scholarships.  Ben graduated (from Holy Cross) in the top 8% of his class and received a great scholarship to The Catholic University. Holy Cross contributed to those achievements and we are most thankful to the faculty, staff and administration that supported our boys.”

Nora and the Advancement Department see great potential for Advancement initiatives and alumni relations. “There are endless possibilities. I encourage all alumni to come home and visit us, walk the hallways and reminisce about your time on Oronoke Road. I also ask our Crusader family to invest in our students, they are our future. Holy Cross offers something that no one else in the area offers. If we want the world to be a better place, we need to invest in today’s students, supporting an academic, spiritual and social environment where our young people can grow and thrive.”

Prior to Holy Cross, Nora spent over three decades working with Special Olympics in many leadership roles including her last one as the Director of Organizational Development for Special Olympics, North America

After experiencing a battle with breast and thyroid cancers in 2020, Nora reaffirmed that her career path had to be led by passion for an organization. “Holy Cross has provided a nurturing environment for our boys that have set them up for success. I am committed to working with the greater Crusader family to offer a vibrant and robust Catholic education experience that allows young people from the Greater Waterbury area the opportunity to learn, to grow, and most importantly to thrive, for generations to come.”
