Our School

On Saturday, May 20, 2023, members of the class of 2023 attended the Waterbury Unico 100th Annual Scholarship Awards ceremony. These awards honor local Italian-American graduating high school seniors for their academic performance and community involvement. 

Ten of the fourteen award recipients were Holy Cross High School students. They included:

• Jenna Cavallo (Nicholas J. Parillo Memorial)
• Joseph Dane (Anthony Buccitti Memorial) 
• Juilana Dane (Domenic & Maria Teresa Setaro) 
• Jadan Izzi (Maiorano Family Memorial) 
• Carly Lombardo (Marilyn Grace Memorial) 
• Kendall Maisto (Marie-Anne Ponzillo Travisano Memorial) 
• Ella Mancini (Dr. Bart & Paola DePetrillo Memorial) 
• Jenna Tracey (Joseph Manganaro Memorial) 

UNICO was founded in 1922 in Waterbury, CT by a group of professional Italian-Americans who were denied membership into a local service organization. They created UNICO to raise promote and preserve the Italian-American culture while doing charitable works in their community. The motto of UNICO is “Service Above Self”. Since then, UNICO has developed into the largest Italian-American Service Organization in the USA.
